I have always had trouble and misconceptions about hearing from God. I know that He has worked through people and circumstances in my life, but I have never really experienced a 2-way conversation with Him, and it is something I have only dreamed about.

After I met Dawn and started listening to her podcast Conquering Our Unseen Enemies, I wanted to know more, and I have been an avid listener since March of this year. I heard about her new book called Loving Conversations through this podcast one day in mid-April, so I went ahead and purchased it online that same day. I did not know of the future impact it would have when I bought and started reading it.

Shortly after this, when I mentioned it to Dawn, she told me about her class called SALO (which was based on her book I was reading). I accepted the invitation and attended the 7-week class. It called for a daily commitment of time spent reading the Bible, praying, and then Journaling (based on the guided questions in the Study guide). I had some progress and shared with the other women in the class, who were instrumental as was Dawn, in helping to encourage me when I had doubts. I have to say, I am fired up to continue this journey in SALO. I had felt the Lord calling to me for a long time and I didn't know how to hear from Him the way that I have recently from being involved with Dawn's class.

I highly recommend the setting of having other believers in a small class when starting out in SALO to help discern what you may think is coming from the Lord (or if you have doubts that you cannot succeed).

This class has changed me. I have made a little progress with actually hearing from the Lord in solitude after journaling and asking questions. I will continue to prioritize a daily space for Him so I can grow closer to Him and be aligned with His will and purpose for my life. I really believe SALO was given as a gift to share with others and Dawn is a Godsend in my life. I pray to be as useful as she is for the Kingdom.

Having participated in the SALO process truly blessed me beyond words! It opened my eyes and ears to the many ways God speaks to us.

Through this process, I hungered daily to read the Bible; God’s “love letter”, and when I did, I found my love for HIM deepened exponentially! There is no greater love we will find! I signed up for the “Loving Conversations” class with the intention of continuing to grow in Christ. In the past I would grab a scrap piece of paper and write something down and soon there were notes everywhere. After taking Dawn Simmons’s class, I have learned how to be intentional and laser focused in hearing from the Lord.
